When looking for discount travel reservations, it pays to shop around. Recently, I spoke with a friend who has been using Priceline.com for hotels. He finds the place he wants to stay and offers a low price. Each time it is rejected, he ups the price by $10.00 until he gets the discount travel reservations he was looking for. Now, when I said he finds the place he wants to stay, I mean the city, not the hotel. That is where the scary part comes in. You select the grade of the hotel where you want to stay and Priceline will select the actual hotel. This is why I never used Priceline before because their idea of a five star hotel may be much different than mine. But, after talking to my friend about it, he said the stars are really equal to the industry standards. For instance, a five star hotel is a luxury hotel. Now, discount travel reservations can really be a discount. I am thinking of going to Springfield, IL, to see the new Lincoln Library and I am going to try Priceline first for discount travel reservations.
