Travel to Hawaii online before you travel there yourself. Visit ALLHawaii.com.  Deciding which island or islands to visit on your travel to Hawaii could very well be your toughest decision. Which island is which? Hawaii is the "Big Island".  Honolulu is not located there. Waikiki, Pearl Harbor and Honolulu are located on Oahu. Kauai is the "Garden Island" and is the oldest and most northern. Maui is the "Valley Island"- 2 islands connected by a fertile isthmus. Lanai is often referred to as the "Private Island". It is 19 miles from Maui and has luscious scenery.

Now who would want to travel to Hawaii without knowing this information! You need to figure out, if you like the traditional Hawaiian experience, on your travel to Hawaii, of going to Honolulu.  It is crowded and very commercialized. You may want this, you may not. Maui on the other hand is not as commercialized, more peaceful. Lanai is the high end retreat for the well healed, in other words you need more money! Hawaii, the "Big Island" is more spread out.  So if you are clostrophobic, as I am, this may appeal to you.  Or you just might want a sampling of everything when you travel to Hawaii!
